Principal Investigator<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Lucie Biehler-Gomez<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Forensic Anthropology and Odontology, Department of Biomedical Sciences for Health, University of Milan<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After completing her academic training in France and the United States, she earned her PhD at the University of Milan in 2020. That same year, she won a L\u2019Or\u00e9al-UNESCO For Women in Science<\/em> research grant, and in 2022 she was awarded a Seal of Excellence by the European Commission. Her research focuses on bioarchaeology, reconstructing health in the past, the bioarchaeology of women, diachronic perspectives on health, exploring past experiences of care and disability, as well as the history of diseases and medicine. She has dedicated her entire career to developing the skills and expertise necessary to lead and realize the DOMINA project.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Paolo Morandini<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

PhD Student<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Paolo has an MSc in Biogeosciences and his research focused on developing and validating anthropological methods for the biological profile (biological sex and age-at-death estimations). He is now a PhD candidate and, within the DOMINA project, investigates the evolution of the physical and occupational activities of Milanese women to understand how environmental and social changes have reshaped gender roles over the past 2,000 years.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Giulia Tagliabue<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Post-Doctoral Researcher<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Giulia trained in taphonomy and thanatology, specializing on biogeochemical evidence of decomposition processes in natural environments. Her PhD focused on forensic taphonomy and natural sciences applied to forensic research. Within DOMINA, she conducts chemical, microscopic, and ultramicroscopic analyses to reconstruct diachronic dietary patterns and lifestyle through skeletal remains.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Valentina Lucchetti<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Junior Researcher<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Valentina specialised in Archaeological Heritage. She focused on the analysis of individuals and the interpretation of the archaeological, historical, and social environment of funerary contexts, integrating the perspective of bioarchaeology of care, investigating care relationships in communities of the past. In the DOMINA project, she is working on anthropological and palaeopathological studies to analyse care experiences.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Elisa Pera<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Junior Researcher<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Elisa is an archaeologist specialized in Archaeological Heritage, focusing on the recovery of archaeological human remains and bioarchaeological analyses. She investigated demography and health status, integrating historical and archaeological data. Within the DOMINA project, she conducts anthropological and paleopathological analyses, estimating sex, age-at-death, population affinity and stature, and interpreting bone lesions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Laura Sisto<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Junior Researcher<\/h5>\n\n\n\n

Laura has a master’s degree in Conservation Science, focusing her research on the study of osteological material, in particular on the diagnostic analyses that can be applied and the evaluation of its state of preservation. Within the DOMINA project, she is involved in carrying out physico-chemical analyses and preparing samples for isotopic, toxicological, and genetic analysis.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
